Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has introduced the updated Jawa 350 in the Indian market, priced at Rs. 2.14 lakh (ex-showroom). This heavily revised version of the Jawa Standard comes with many upgrades, including a new engine, chassis improvements, and a longer wheelbase. This sets it up as a strong competitor in the mid-capacity segment.

Engine and Performance

The heart of the new Jawa 350 is a 334cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, producing 22.5 bhp and 28.2 Nm of peak torque. It’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip-and-assist clutch. Notably, the engine has been tuned for strong low and mid-range performance, with a revised compression ratio of 9.5:1 for a more laid-back power delivery.

Design and Build

While maintaining the classic Jawa aesthetic, the 350 model has undergone subtle design enhancements, including wider wheels and updated fenders, contributing to a bulkier stance. The bike’s double cradle chassis has been reworked to accommodate the new engine, resulting in a longer wheelbase of 1,449mm and a ground clearance of 178mm. The seat height is now 790mm, offering comfortable ergonomics for riders.

Safety and Handling

In terms of safety, the Jawa 350 is equipped with dual-disc brakes and dual-channel ABS. The suspension setup includes a 35mm telescopic fork and preload-adjustable twin shock absorbers, providing a balanced ride. The bike rolls on spoked rims and tubed tyres, with sizes of 100/90-18 (front) and 130/70-18 (rear), enhancing its road presence and stability.

Color Options and Rivalry

The Jawa 350 is now available in three color options, including the classic Jawa maroon, black, and a new Mystique Orange shade, offering a fresh and vibrant look. Positioned slightly below the top-spec Royal Enfield Classic 350, it competes directly with popular models in this segment.

Conclusion

The new Jawa 350 blends its iconic heritage with modern engineering, promising an appealing package for motorcycle enthusiasts in India. With its competitive pricing, enhanced performance, and classic design, the Jawa 350 is poised to impact the 350cc neo-retro motorcycle segment significantly.
